The Asuran director Vetri Maaran is currently flying high with the resounding success of his previous movie. Many leading actors are showing interest to work with Vetri Maaran. He is a filmmaker who has carved a niche for himself with his raw portrayals of reality and the social issues he touches upon. Earlier, it was rumoured that Vetri Maaran would next be working with Suriya, in a new project. It was recently announced that the two will indeed be coming together for a movie, to be bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu, under his V Creations banner, with GV Prakash composing the music. At one of the recent events, director Vetri Maaran has reportedly revealed that his new movie with Suriya would be titled Vaadi Vaasal. The term Vaadi Vaasal is usually given to the gate through which the Oxen which participate in Jallikattu, enter the arena. Earlier, in a media interaction, Vetri Maaran had revealed that he had acquired the film making rights for the novel Vaadi Vaasal, written by Si. Su. Chellappa. This could very well be the book on whose story the Suriya project Vaadivaasal could be based on.

On the occasion of Suriya’s birthday today, the makers of Vaadivaasal have now released the Suriya character look poster from the film. The official press note from the team reads as follows: “Following the huge success 'Asuran', Director Vetrimaaran and Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu unite again for 'Vaadivasal' with Suriya playing the lead role. On the occasion of Suriya's birthday, Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu released the first look of 'Vaadivasal' and wished him a happy birthday. While GV Prakash Kumar is composing the music, R Velraj is handling the cinematography and Art Direction by Jacki.” However, Suriya will next be working with director Hari for a film titled Aruvaa and will commence this new project with Vetri Maaran, soon enough.
