'Thalapathy' Vijay's Master's release has been a key topic of debate among Tamil cinema fans for a while now after it was postponed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Planned initially to hit screens on April 9 earlier this year, the upcoming film touted to be a mass masala action feast has been directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj under Xavier Britto's XB Film Creators banner in association with Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios. With the makers last week announcing that the film will only be coming out in theatres first despite an offer from a leading streaming giant, Tamil Nadu Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur Raju on Wednesday during a public meeting spoke about the plans to increase the admission of people into theatres, while also revealing the release date for Vijay’s Master

In a video that has gone viral on social media, TN Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur Raju said that he hopes for the coronavirus pandemic to subside by the end of 2020 and before Vijay's Master's release on January 13, 2021 ahead of Pongal. He also showed interest in a gradual increase in the audience capacity in theatres from the current 50 percent to 75 percent and more going forward. January 13, 2021 falls on a Wednesday and the makers of Master will benefit from a long weekend that will bring large audiences to the theatres. Watch the video below:

There is tremendous hype surrounding Master as the excitement for the film's teaser released for Diwali last month is testimony enough. The songs in the Master album composed by Anirudh Ravichander have turned out to be sensational hits and are still reigning at the top of the charts. Master will see Vijay in a showdown with 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, who is the antagonist, with the film’s teaser showcasing both the stars in full-out action and subsequently giving fans plenty to cheer about. The film will also see Malavika Mohanan as the female lead, followed by Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah, Gouri Kishan, Master Mahendran, KPY Dheena, Ramya Subramanian, Azhagam Perumal among others forming the supporting cast.
