One Malayalam venture that has created a tremendous buzz in recent times is the upcoming epic historical war film, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham or Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea, starring National Award-winning actor Mohanlal in the lead role. Directed by iconic filmmaker Priyadarshan, the film's story set in the 16th century will tell the story of Kunjali Marakkar IV, naval commander of the Samoothiri. Made on a grand scale by Antony Perumbavoor's Aashirvad Cinemas in association with Santhosh T. Kuruvilla and Roy C. J's Confident Group banner, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham began production in December 2018, with Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar paying a surprise visit to the film's sets in early 2019. 

At the time, photos of Ajith's visit to the sets of Marakkar went viral on social media, with the makers on Thursday on the festive occasion of Diwali releasing a special video showing the Tamil actor interacting with the cast and crew of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. In the video, we see Ajith meeting Mohanlal, director Priyadarshan, actor Arjun, Suniel Shetty and the rest of the team of the upcoming Malayalam biggie and has them all delighted by his surprise appearance during the shooting. 

Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is one of the biggest films to be ever made in Malayalam cinema history and was shot predominantly at the Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad at a budget of Rs 100 crore. The film has already won three awards at the 67th National Film Awards — Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects, and Best Costume, with the release date still awaited after it was postponed on a couple of occasions due to the lockdown. Marakkar stars Mohanlal, Pranav Mohanlal, Arjun, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Suhasini,  Keerthi Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Fazil, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Ashok Selvan among others, with an incredible technical team on board featuring the likes of Ronnie Raphael composing the music, cinematography by Thiru, editing by Aiyappan Nair M.S and a screenplay written by Priyadarshan and Ani I.V. SASI.
