Many film and TV celebrities have of late been resorting to the drastic step of taking their own lives by suicide. In that light, leading Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide in mid-2020 shook the entire nation, with fans still in mourning even today. Likewise, popular Tamil serial actress VJ Chitra, lovingly called by fans as Chithu, had died by hanging in her hotel room in December last year, which left fans across the state in a state of deep trauma. Circumstances surrounding Chitra's death created a huge buzz, with her husband Hemnath Ravi being arrested in connection to the case on charges of abetment to suicide and was subsequently released on bail last week. Similarly, actor Srivatsav, who entered Tamil cinema in Enai Noki Paayum Thota in a starring role, had hung himself to death a few days back, with the news coming as a big shock to many. 

In the meantime, a TV actor named Indrakumar was found dead at his friend's house by hanging on Thursday. He had been living in a Sri Lankan refugee camp in Chennai and was acting in a serial being telecast on a private channel. A couple of days back, he had gone to watch a film with his friends and returned to one of their rooms where they spent the night. Upon waking up, Indrakumar's friends found him to be hanging on the ceiling fan, who then informed the police after which the body was sent for a post-mortem. Indrakumar is survived by his wife and son. According to reports, Indrakumar resorted to taking his life due to a lack of opportunities in films, including problems in the family.
