Actor Madhur Mittal, who shot to nationwide fame after starring in the global blockbuster Slumdog Millionaire, has been booked by the Khar Police, Mumbai, for allegedly sexually assaulting and injuring his former girlfriend. Reports say the incident had taken place on February 13 when Madhur had made a forceful entry into her house and then proceeded to assault her. The report further cited that no arrests have been made as yet. As of now, the police has lodged an FIR, with Madhur being booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for molestation, sexual harassment, and sexual assault.

According to reports, Madhur and his former partner met in December last year and the actor had forced himself on her within two weeks under the influence of alcohol. In a statement, the victim's lawyer has said that her client had separated from the actor two days before the assault on her had taken place. Her advocate further added that Madhur had strangled her client’s neck more than 15 times, including pulling her by her hair, yanking her ears, punching her under her right eye, lifting her and assaulting her. The victim's lawyer also stated that the attack was sexual in nature and her client had been left with bruises all over the face, neck, chest, ribs, hands, back, ears and eyes. There has been no comment yet from Madhur on the allegations against him. 

On the work front, Madhur was last seen in a starring role in Raveena Tandon's Maatr in 2017. Madhur's first major film role was as a child artiste in the Salman Khan starrer, Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, and subsequently landed parts in Shah Rukh Khan's One 2 Ka 4, Say Salaam India, Slumdog Millionaire in 2008, Million Dollar Arm in 2014 and Pocket Gangsters in 2015. His biggest shot to fame was when he was cast in the British drama, Slumdog Millionaire, directed by British filmmaker Danny Boyle and featured music by A. R. Rahman. The action drama film featured Madhur as Salim, who played the elder brother of the protagonist Dev Patel's Jamal.
