Popular American singer turned actress Mandy Moore has announced the birth of her first child, a son named August Harrison Goldsmith. Sharing an adorable picture of her newborn, Moore took to her Instagram page and wrote, "Gus is here. Our sweet boy, August Harrison Goldsmith. He was punctual and arrived right on his due date, much to the delight of his parents. Mandy Moore, who married singer-songwriter Taylor Goldsmith in November 2018, once again took to her Instagram page and this time to reveal a sweet story behind choosing the name August for her son. She wrote, "It was last August when @taylordawesgoldsmith and I found out we were having a boy (it’s also Taylor’s birth month) and we always loved the name... so it was settled very early on in our book. Then for our anniversary in November, T gifted me with this blanket with the “A” (for Amanda) made from extra material from my wedding dress and “T” (for Taylor) from his wedding shirt. Earlier this month, Mandy had informed on social media that her birth plan had to be altered after her platelets had dropped during pregnancy. She said, "My platelets have dropped exponentially during pregnancy and it's sadly altered my birth plan." Moore and her musician husband Taylor Goldsmith got married after dating for three years and announced back in September 2020 about her pregnancy. 

Mandy Moore debuted as a singer first in 1999 with the single 'Candy', which became a commercial success in a number of countries. After her debut with So Real, she came out with albums namely I Wanna Be with You, Mandy Moore, Coverage, Wild Hope, including Silver Landings, which came out last year. Moore began acting in Dr. Dolittle 2, which had her in a voice role in 2001, and followed it up with a starring role in The Princess Diaries the same year. Moore went on to be cast in the lead role in 2002 in A Walk to Remember, which turned out to be a financial success. Since then, Moore has starred in notable films like All I Want, Chasing Liberty, Romance & Cigarettes, including voicing the character Rapunzel in Tangled and Ralph Breaks the Internet, and was last seen in Midway in 2019. She also headlined the cast in the romantic family drama television series, This Is Us, which has enjoyed a successful five-year run.
