A film that has won the hearts of fans across the nation, National Award-winning actor Mohanlal's Drishyam 2 has become a smashing success on Amazon Prime Video despite the disappointment for many that it didn't see a theatrical release due to the pandemic. Soon after Drishyam 2 premiered on OTT, a remake in Telugu with Venkatesh Daggubati began rolling, which has the superstar teaming up with the Malayalam version's director Jeethu Joseph. That said, leading producer Mukesh Ratilal Mehta of E4 Entertainment announced on Monday that Drishyam 2 is getting a Kannada remake as well, with veteran filmmaker P. Vasu directing the project, which has been titled Drishya 2

Taking to social media, E4 Entertainment's Mukesh Ratilal Mehta expressed his gratitude to producers Antony Perumbavoor and Jacob, for granting the rights to remake Drishyam 2 in Kannada. He tweeted, "We are delighted to announce the switch on of Dhrishya 2 Kannada and we are thankful to Sri Antony Perambavoor Sri Jacob and Sri Jeetu Joseph for granting us the remake rights", while tagging Mohanlal and director P. Vasu. Drishya 2 will see P. Vasu directing the cast from 2014's Drishya which includes Ravichandran, Navya Nair, Prabhu and Asha Sarath, with Anant Nag and Pramod Shetty coming on board.

Drishya 2 will commence with a formal pooja on July 12 at 9AM on location at the Ela Estate Survey, Muddanahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Expectations for the upcoming Kannada remake will no doubt be huge considering this is the second version coming out for the Mohanlal blockbuster, which continues to enjoy a massive fan following. The original Malayalam version of the film also saw a whopping 6.58 million impressions when it premiered on Asianet on the occasion of Mohanlal's birthday in May.
