Suriya's Soorarai Pottru is all set to be remade in Hindi and the official announcement regarding the same was made this morning (July 12). Soorarai Pottru released on November 12, 2020, opening to highly positive reviews from critics and the general audience. The film managed to strike a chord with the audience, thanks to the highly impactful performances of the lead actors and the effective packaging of director Sudha Kongara. Soorarai Pottru was also a film that brought out the actor inside Suriya in flying colours and the fans loved seeing him as Maara. The film is now all set for a remake in Hindi and the fans have already got excited hearing the announcement.

Sudha Kongara has been retained to helm the Hindi version and she will be looking to recreate the magic once again. Suriya's 2D Entertainment will bankroll the Hindi remake in association with Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment. Suriya took to his official Twitter page to make the announcement and he shared a picture from the meeting with Vikram Malhotra. Suriya tweeted, "Excited to announce our association with @Abundantia_Ent lead by @vikramix for #SooraraiPottru in Hindi, Directed by #SudhaKongara @CaptGopinath #Jyotika @rajsekarpandian @ShikhaaSharma03 @2D_ENTPVTLTD."

We are yet to know who is going to reprise Suriya's role in the Hindi remake and we will update you about the cast details in the coming weeks. Director Sudha Kongara is currently said to have started the pre-production works for the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru and more details are awaited. Soorarai Pottru, which had a direct OTT release on Prime Video, featured Aparna Balamurali as the female lead and had music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. Paresh Rawal, Karunaas, Urvashi, Kaali Venkat, and others played supporting characters. The film was based on the real life story of Captain GR Gopinath, founder of Air Deccan airlines.
