Mahesh Babu's father and veteran Tollywood actor, Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, known mononymously as Krishna, has passed away. Soon after this news surfaced, the entire film fraternity took to their respective social media handles to pay tribute to the star. The veteran actor turned 79 in May this year and is now survived by his son Superstar Mahesh Babu.

As the word spread about Krishna's death, tributes poured in from all over. Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the sad demise of Krishna. Taking to his Twitter account, he posted a throwback pic of himself with Superstar Krishna. Calling it an end of a film era, the politician offered his condolences saying it has been a tough year for Mahesh Babu.

The superstar of yesteryears was hospitalized at the Continental Hospital in Gachibowli yesterday (November 14) after he complained of breathlessness. Krishna was believed to have suffered mild cardiac arrest. Mahesh Babu's wife Namrata and other family members shifted him to the hospital. This is the third death Mahesh's family this year. First, his elder brother Ramesh Babu passed away on January 8. Then his mother, Indira Devi, passed away on September 28. Finally, his father has passed away now.

In a career spanning five decades, Krishna acted in more than 350 films. In 2009, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Indian cinema. Meanwhile, on the work front, his son Mahesh Babu will share the screen with Pooja Hegde in the movie tentatively titled SSMB28, directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The music is composed by S Thaman. He will also team up with the RRR director, SS Rajamouli. The untitled drama is expected to go on the floors in 2023.
