Gautham Karthik, son of veteran actor Karthik Muthuraman, was robbed off his mobile phone in Chennai on Wednesday. The incident occurred early morning today at the TTK Road in Chennai when the actor was cycling. According to reports, the mobile phone was snatched off Gautham Karthik while he was riding his cycle, following which a case was registered at the Mylapore police station, with investigations currently underway. It is stated that two persons appeared on a two-wheeler and snatched the mobile phone before fleeing away. The incident at the heart of Chennai city has left many fans shocked. 

On the professional front, Gautham Karthik, who was last seen in Devarattam released in 2019, is at present attached to the remake of the smash hit Kannada film, Mufti, which also includes Silambarasan TR. Being produced by K. E. Gnanavelraja's Studio Green banner, the Mufti remake initially had the original film's director Narthan on board, who has since left the project. That said, the Mufti Tamil remake will now see Krishna of Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame taking charge on the directorial front, with production expected to resume once Simbu completes filming his Maanaadu under Venkat Prabhu's direction. So far, one schedule in the Mufti Tamil remake has been completed, with shooting spot pictures of both STR and Gautham Karthik last year going viral. 

Gautham Karthik was also recently announced to be a part of an untitled film to be directed by Ezhil, who is known for his films such as Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Pennin Manathai Thottu, Poovellam Un Vasam and Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran to name a few. The upcoming film has also been announced to be Ezhil's first in the crime thriller genre, which is based on a book by Rajesh Kumar and will include Parthiban, with newcomer Saipriya revealed to be playing the female lead.
