Taapsee Pannu is one of the talented actors we have in the country and she has several exciting projects in her lineup. One of the interesting films in her kitty happens to be Shabaash Mithu, which is the biopic of Indian Women's Cricket Team Captain, Mithali Raj. The first look poster of the film opened to a highly positive response from the film buffs and it made people look forward to the movie. Rahul Dholakia (director of Shah Rukh Khan's Raees), who was initially announced to helm Shabaash Mithu, has now walked out of the project due to other commitments. Rahul Dholakia confirmed the news through an official statement.

Rahul's official statement read, "There are some films which you know you have to do. Shabaash Mithu was that film. When I read the script, I was certain, this film I had to do; that was almost a year and a half ago - unfortunately I have to end the journey that started in November 2019. I won't be directing the fabulous script written by Priya Aven, and conceived by Ajit Andhare. Unfortunately, I won't be a part of the dream, but I am and will always be there for them to realize their dream. Covid messed up everyone's schedules, mine was no different. Ajit has a vision, and a plan for the film and the way to release it. I wish him and the team the very best for it".

Replacing Rahul Dholakia will be critically acclaimed director Srijit Mukherji, who had earlier directed the Vidya Balan starrer Begum Jaan. Details regarding the film's shooting plans are yet to be known. Meanwhile, Taapsee will next be seen in Haseen Dillruba which is all set for release on Netflix platform on July 2. Haseen Dillruba is a romantic mystery drama that features Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane as the other leads.
