I.G. in March

Scriptwriter-turned-director B. Unnikrishnan's upcoming Suresh Gopi starrer I.G., produced by Mahi (maker of Dileep starrer Chess) under the banner of Super films, has been slated for release in March. After Smart City (2006), an average flick at the box office, this is the second time that B. Unnikrishnan teams up with Suresh Gopi.

As the title indicates, I.G. is a cop story whichshows how youths are trained by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) in Pakistan to be sent as suicide bombers in various parts of our country. Suresh Gopi will play an Anti-Terrorism Squad chief (like Hemant Karkare, who was killed in the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai). This police thriller is scripted by the director himself.

I.G. has Jagathy Sreekumar, Vijayaraghavan, Devan, Govind Padmasuriya, Rajan P. Dev, Aashish Vidyarthi, Nandhinee, Lakshmi, Anaida Nair and John Kokkan in prominent roles. Cinematography is by Shyam Dutt. M. Jayachandran has set music to the lysics written by Gireesh Puthencherry. Expected to be completed in a single schedule, the shooting of the film is now progressing in and around Thiruvananthapuram.

Meanwhile, after a gap of 20 years, Suresh Gopi is all set to act in his second straight Telugu film, being produced by Tolly 2 Holly. Though not the main hero, Suresh Gopi plays a crucial role in this untitled film, starring Ajay and Madhurima in the lead. In addition to his only Telugu film Antima Theerpu (1988), Suresh Gopi is quite familiar to Telugu audiences with dubbed versions of his Malayalam blockbusters Commissioner (1994) and Bharath Chandran IPS (2005), Pathram (1999) and Chinthamani Kola Case (2006).
