The 69th National Film Awards were announced during a press conference by the jury at the National Media Center, New Delhi today (August 24). The most prestigious honor celebrating the best talent across Indian cinema, the National Film Awards are "aimed aim at encouraging the production of films of aesthetic and technical excellence and social relevance", according to the Directorate of Film Festivals of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. A total of 285 entries in the 'Feature' category in 28 languages and 158 entries in the 'Non-Feature' category in 23 languages will be receiving honors at the 69th National Film Awards, with the Baba Saheb Phalke Award to be announced at a later date.
Among the big names who have been announced for the honors, Telugu superstar Allu Arjun will be bestowed with the Best Actor National Award for Pushpa: The Rise - Part 1, while Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon will be sharing the Best Actress National Award for their performances in Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively.
