Leading Tamil actor Karthi paid his tributes to actor-filmmaker G. Marimuthu, who passed away due to a heart attack on Friday, September 8, in Chennai. The Ponniyin Selvan star took to social media to express his condolences and recalled the time he spent with the Jailer actor during the filming of Nerrukku Ner (1997). Karthi also shared how Marimuthu was an experienced actor and an extraordinary performer, who portrayed his characters in a practical manner while adding that the news of his passing has come as a huge shock. 

Karthi posted in his tribute on X, "I’ve met #Marimuthu sir when he was an assistant Director in Nerukku Ner. He was a seasoned actor and a stunning performer who could present every character realistically. He was well read and a passionate cinema afficianado. His sudden passing away is a huge shock. Deepest Condolences to his family, friends and fans." (sic) Marimuthu had served as an assistant director to National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker Vasanth, who directed Nerukku Ner, which marked Karthi's elder brother Suriya's acting debut alongside 'Thalapathy' Vijay. 

Marimuthu was dubbing for a Tamil television serial earlier today when he began experiencing uneasiness and was taken to a private hospital. The popular actor's body was then shifted to his residence where celebrities and fans have been paying their tributes. Marimuthu became a household name among Tamil audiences after playing the villain on the hit Sun TV serial Ethir Neechal, while also making appearances in character roles in several notable films. With his role in 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Jailer released recently turning out to be his last big-screen appearance, the veteran actor is known for his performances in Tamil films like Yuddham Sei (2011), Nimirndhu Nil (2014), Komban (2015), Trisha Illana Nayanthara (2015), Kodi (2016), Kadaikutty Singam (2018), Pariyerum Perumal (2018), Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu (2019), Doctor (2021), and Vikram (2022) to name a notable few, and had reportedly filmed scenes in Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 directed by Shankar.
