Actress Rani Mukherjee reveals that she always wanted to do a happy film with Anurag Basu and Viacom 18, which is unlike the kind of films he does, that are mostly based on a dark and emotionally deep concept.

Rani who will be seen in Anurag Basu's Aiyyaa, reveals, "When Anurag came to me I told him that I can't do the kind of movies that he makes and that I don't want to do dark films. I told Anurag I want to do a happy film. I was surprised when Anurag told me he is offering me a happy film."

Unlike the Kind of films he makes, Anurag is a very funny and entertaining person. As Rani has done dark films like No One Killed Jessica and soon to be released Talaash, she wants to do a happy film, for a change.

In Aiyyaa, Rani plays Meenakshi Deshmukh, a Marathi girl who falls in love with a Malayali boy, played by South Indian star, Prithviraj. Meenakshi is a huge fan of Sridevi, Juhi Chawla and Madhuri Dixit and always dreams about them. From the costumes to the dialogues, everything has Marathi Flavour in it.

Directed by Sachin Kundalkar, the film is slated for release on October 12.
