The fans have been eagerly waiting for the sequel to the superhit 2021 Telugu action drama film Pushpa: The Rise. According to recent reports, it looks like the second installment of Pushpa, titled Pushpa: The Rule, will take longer than expected. A source stated that Pushpa 2 may release only in the first quarter of 2024.

It turns out that there is a delay in production due to the makers wanting to make the second part bigger and better than the 2021 predecessor smash hit film. A North Indian media source stated, "Sukumar's perfection will lead delay in the film’s release. He doesn’t want to rush to complete the shoot and hence, the makers, for now, have decided to release Pushpa 2 somewhere in March-April 2024.  Sukumar is leaving no stone unturned to make sure Pushpa 2 also becomes bigger and better than Pushpa: The Rise. He has planned a lot of test shoots in Bangkok and other places and once he is satisfied with the output, he will go ahead with the final shoot which is likely to begin in the first week of December."

Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under the banners of Mythri Movie Makers in association with Muttamsetty Media and written and directed by Sukumar, the first part received positive reviews from fans and critics alike who praised the cast's performances, action sequences, cinematography, direction, and soundtrack. The film went on to gross over Rs. 350 crores at the box office and emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film in 2021 while ranking among the highest-grossing Telugu films of all time.

After an amazing theatrical run, the movie marked its OTT debut on Amazon Prime Video. The pan-India film was released in five languages - Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. The official release date of Pushpa: The Rule is still awaited. Actor Fahadh Faasil as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekawat, and actress Rashmika Mandanna as Pushpa's wife Srivalli will reprise their roles in the sequel.
