Aamir peeks into Big B's new look in Paa

Aamir Khan has always been lucky. Heis an expertnot justin the art of movie-making, healso takes pains to learn how movies are made in Bollywood. To cut a long story short, he was one of the lucky few who was allowed to have a sneak peekat Big B's new look in Paa.

Aamir barged intoFilm City where the shooting of Balki's (R. Balakrishnan's) Paa was in progress. Immediately, he was ushered into the Amitabh's make-up van where he got a good glimpse of Amitabh in the refreshingly-new, never-before-seen look. The make-up, which takes about four hourscomplete, isby Stephen Dupuis, who did Robin Williams' make-up in Mrs. Doubtfire. (Yes, that was the film which inspired Kamal Haasan's Chachi 420 (Hindi) and Avvai Shanmughi (Tamil).)

Though Aamir has been luckyenough to catch a glimpse of Big B's new look, others havebeen less lucky. Sanjay Dutt met Amitabh without his 'unique' make-up, while Ranbir Kapoor was reportedly turned away with just a photograph of Bachchan's look.

Director Balki, all worried about the new look being leaked out, takes all precautions to preventthis from happening. Expressing his views on this, Balki, who worked with Amitabh in Cheeni Kum, says, “We don't allow a single visitor, not even close relatives or friends of crew members on the set. Phones, of course, are a complete no-no. The next thing you know the look will be splashed on the Net. Aamir, of course, couldn't be turned down. But yes, we did swear him to complete secrecy almost like a Boy Scout's cross-your-heart kind of pledge.” So Aamir Khanalso has been sworn into secrecy.

However, the director'slogic for this secrecyare obvious. “We really can't take any risk about Mr. Bachchan's look. Once people get to know what he looks like, the plot will be given away. That's why we are immediately shifting location to Malaysia, not because we require a foreign location, but because we need to shoot without the fear and embarrassment of visitors. In any case, Aamir is a man who understands the exigencies of cinema. He will hardly be expected to leak the look.” As we opined in the beginning, Aamir Khan has indeed been lucky.
