After the first double-header of the Indian Premier League 2020 happened yesterday, the second started off with the early evening match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad! MI's captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first! The game got very exciting in the first over itself when Rohit's first scoring shot was a lazily elegant six in his trademark style! However, Sandeep Sharma who replaced the injured Bhuvaneshwar Kumar got Rohit the very next ball with a faint tickle through to the keeper! The umpire did not give it out and the SRH team reviewed the decision and got their man! MI got going in the third over itself and plundered 18 runs off Siddhart Kaul. MI finished the powerplay at 38/1, the lowest in Sharjah so far. Suryakumar Yadav was the next man to depart after scoring a sparkling 27! SRH made a smart move by bringing in Kane Williamson to bowl a quiet over, with 2 right-handers at the crease but Ishan Kishan took him apart in his 2nd over for 17 runs!
Rashid Khan prised out QDK for 67 in the 14th over, leaving MI on 126/3 and bringing in Hardik Pandya to the crease! Sandeep Sharma got Ishan Kishan the very next over but only after he had cracked another six and scored 31. Pollard and Pandya played out 2 quiet overs from Rashid Khan and T Natarajan before teeing off with 28 runs from the next 2 overs! Kaul came on to bowl the last over and after Pollard played him for a single off the first ball, he got Hardik bowled for 28, off the next ball! This brought out Hardik's sibling Krunal to the crease and what followed was a bloodbath! Krunal hit his first ball for a massive 6 before crunching 2 fours off the next two balls and despatching the last ball for another 6. His little cameo got Mumbai to a total of 208, setting SRH a target of 209 to win! Hyderabad got off to a decent start after a quiet first over with 12 runs coming in the second over. Bowling the 5th over, Trent Boult got Jonny Bairstow off the first ball, for 25!
Bumrah came on to bowl the last over of the powerplay and was greeted with back-to-back boundaries off his first 2 balls with another one off his 5th ball! SRH had gotten off to a great start with 56/1 after 6 overs! Warner began getting into groove and smacked Rahul Chahar for a 6 and Pattinson for a 4. Manish Pandey scored a quick 30 but fell to Pattinson, bringing Williamson to the wicket! Even as Warner began opening up, Williamson fell cheaply for 3, giving fellow New Zealander Trent Boult the wicket! With Rahul Chahar being costly, MI brought in Pollard to bowl a couple of overs but he ended up bowling his full quote of 4! With the required run rate rising steadily, Krunal Pandya got SRH's last match hero Priyam Garg for 8! Rohit brought back Pattinson and MI got the huge wicket of Warner but SRH still had hopes with Sharjah's small boundaries. Abdul Samad gave SRH some hope with a 6 & a 4 off Bumrah but it was the bowler who had the last laugh with 2 wickets in the 19th over to effectively seal SRH's fate. Pollard bowled a wonderful last over, giving off just 2 runs to hand MI a 34-run victory over SRH! Trent Boult was named the Player of the Match for his 28/2 in four overs! This win takes MI to the top of the table with SRH on 6th place. The CSK vs KXIP match is going on. Stay tuned for the match report!
