Oscar Talk: Penelope, Viola

Penelope Cruz, who is vying for the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in Vicky Christina Barcelona, is all excited, butinsists she’s ready for the worst! "I was with one of my girlfriends in L.A. They woke me up. I didn't know if it was a good thing to wake up or not. We watched it on TV. It's a little bit strange to be watching live because you never know what's going to happen — even if everybody tells you that you will get it. I always prepare myself for the worst. I was very excited," she said.

But for Viola Davis, the nomination itself is quite a reassuring reward. "It's everything that you could possibly imagine it is, and not that I needed the nomination to know I was on the right path, but it certainly helps. It really does," said Viola Davis, who is supporting actress nominee for her role in Doubt. And most of the nominees echo Viola’s feelings, even though they cannot help but shoot up a prayer that they will be more than just nominees when the big day comes!
