After the events of 2021's Godzilla vs. Kong, it is Godzilla who remains the King of the Monsters on the surface, while Kong is now the King of the Hollow Earth in the subterranean world. This way, they can both coexist as Alpha Titans in separate worlds. Furthermore, the one aspect solidifying Godzilla's victory is Kong's near-death experience.

But after the two duked it out with each other in the film and at the box office, the two most powerful forces of nature are confirmed to tussle once again. It looks like King Kong is ready for a rematch, as Warner Bros. announced Godzilla vs. Kong's untitled sequel is coming to theaters in 2024. So far, not a lot of details have been given out about the next installment in Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse, but now that we have a release date, it should not be long to find out which new giant beast will face Earth’s two mightiest defenders.

Released in 2021, while the whole world was still recovering from the worst effects of the coronavirus pandemic, Godzilla vs. Kong crossed the $100 million mark at the box office. Warner Bros. quickly realized the obvious that the audience love to watch abnormally large monsters beat the life out of each other on the big screen. So, it did not take the makers long to announce they were working on a sequel.

The untitled sequel to Godzilla Vs. Kong is expected to start filming in Australia this year, but Legendary and Warner Bros. have been very secretive about their plans for the MonsterVerse. Director Adam Wingard will return to helm the monster brawl film after directing the first.

Besides the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel, Legendary's MonsterVerse is also planning the release of a Titans TV show. The new series will allow fans to see more of the other gigantic creatures who roam the world since Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
