81st Oscar nominations announced

Indians have a lot to be proud of this year. While the economy is hitting rock bottom elsewhere, India has managed to maintain a balance without going to the edge of economical ruin. And now, we have Slumdog Millionaire starring Anil Kapoor and other Indians, which swept the Golden Globe awards a couple of weeks ago. It is now nominated in the Oscars for Best Motion Picture along with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader and Slumdog Millionaire.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button leads the nominations in 13 categories followed by Slumdog Millionaire with 10 nominations. Heath Ledger’s swan song, The Dark Knight, comes third with 8 nominations and Ledger himself gets a posthumous Supporting Actor nomination exactly a year after his death.
