The entire world went through one of the bleakest periods in history, after the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic broke out! Without enough knowledge about the deadly Virus and means to prevent it from spreading rapidly, humanity has already lost over 1.5 million lives to this dreaded Corona Virus. However, there have been quite some encouraging news in recent times with a number of potent vaccine candidates being developed for COVID-19! One of the most effective vaccines, which returned a 95% efficacy in the Phase 3 clinical trials, was the vaccine developed jointly by Pfizer and BioNTech! This vaccine also applied for and obtained Emergency Use Authorisation from the UK and Bahrain and has applied for the EUA in the USA and India.

Vaccination for the public has also begun in the UK and Bahrain and the people who have been shortlisted to receive the vaccine shots have been overjoyed. However, there has come dampening news, which could create quite an impact on the whole vaccination process. Latest reports state that 4 volunteers, who participated in the trial stage and received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine shots, have now developed severe side effects. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulators have revealed that 4 volunteers who participated in the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine trials, have now developed Bell's Palsy, which is a medical condition causing partial paralysis in one side of the face, making the features droop. This has raised concerns over the safety of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine.

However, the FDA authorities are not sure yet, as to what caused the Bell's Palsy in the 4 volunteers but the regulators have asked doctors to constantly monitor the side effects of the vaccine. Recently, Pfizer's CEO - Robert Bourla had expressed doubts over whether their vaccine would stop the spread of the Corona Virus as it was not ascertained yet if vaccinated people could transmit the virus to the non-vaccinated people. He had stated that they are not certain about it at the moment and that it needs to be examined. Some experts not associated with the vaccine's trial have also raised a concern that the company has not assessed the role, the vaccine plays in the transmission of the disease. Just yesterday, the UK's regulator - Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) had issued a warning, asking people with significant history of allergic reactions to food, medicines or vaccines to not get themselves vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine. This warning was issued after 2 National Health Services (NHS) workers, who had been given the first dose of the vaccine, complained of "anaphylactoid reaction". The 2 workers are said to be recovering well! Stay tuned for updates...
