Leading Tamil actor Karthi's recently-released Viruman took a spectacular opening at the box office and he is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming high-profile ventures - Ponniyin Selvan: 1 and Sardar. In the midst of this, the Kaithi actor has now made a special appearance for blockbuster production-distribution banner Dream Warrior Pictures' next big film, Kanam, in the 'Maaripocho' song video. Composed by Jakes Bejoy, the peppy track, which will predominantly appeal to children, features vocals by Karthi and rap verses by Australian-based artist and music producer Travis A. King, with the Tamil lyrics penned by Madhan Karky. 

The 'Maaripocho' song in Kanam is a soft number and has Karthi also making an appearance in the promotional video alongside several children ahead of the film's theatrical release on September 9. The song is the second occasion he has sung after he sang the 'Mississippi' song in Biriyani in 2013. Starring Engaeyum Eppothum fame Sharwanand in the lead role, the upcoming film billed to be a science-fiction drama has Ritu Varma playing the female lead and is a bilingual also coming out in Telugu under the title Oke Oka Jeevitham. Directed by debutant Shree Karthick, the songs in Kanam composed by Jakes Bejoy have so far received a good response and has Sharwanand said to be playing the role of a budding artiste. 

Apart from Sharwanand and Ritu Varma, Kanam will see iconic South Indian actress Amala making a comeback to the big screen alongside Nasser, Sathish, and Ramesh Thilak, while Vennela Kishore and Priyadarshi Pulikonda are appearing in the Telugu version in supporting roles. As for Karthi, the actor has been busy of late with the release of his Viruman and is taking part in the promotions of the epic historical film, Ponniyin Selvan. The first of the two installments, PS: 1, under ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's direction, will open in cinemas worldwide on September 30. Karthi also has Diwali 2022 secured for his Sardar's release, which is nearing the finish line with its shooting under Irumbu Thirai fame PS Mithran's direction.
