Vijayakumar attempts suicide?

Noted Malayalam supporting actor Vijayakumar, who was in the custody of Kochi City Police in connection with a case relating to�theft of Rs. 25 lakhs, has allegedly attempted to commit suicide by cutting the�veins of his wrist during police�interrogation. He was immediately admitted to ICU of Sunrise Hospital, Kochi. Hospital sources stated he is out of danger and is expected to be discharged soon.

Vijayakumar is allegedly involved in a theft in which a four-member gang had snatched away Rs. 25 lakhs from an Ernakulam native Henry, at Kalamassery near Ernakulam at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. According to the police, Henry, who was carrying the money, was waylaid by a gang and the money snatched from him after chilly powder was thrown on his face.

The actor was detained by the police two days ago. After preliminary questioning, he was shifted to the next room for detailed questioning. During this time, he cut the�veins of his wrist, said V.M. Mohammed Rafique, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Thrikkakara. The City Police are on the lookout for two persons involved in the case. More details about the case are yet to be revealed.

Vijayakumar has acted in a verity of roles in Malayalam films�such as Suresh Gopi starrer�Chinthamani Kola Case (2006), Mohanlal starrer�Narasimham (2000), Dubai and Thalsthanam. He was the hero of Shambu, released in 2004.
