Sona-Swathi keen for Swayamvar?
Down South, fringe artistes are keen to participate in a TV show similar to "Rakhi ka Swayamvar" after seeing its impact and popularity. Sources say Sona has been approached by a TV channel. Others say Swathi evinced interest though an offer is yet to be made. Rambha has said she is not interested in appearing on such a show.
Currently busy with Yogi under director Ameer, Swathi is not too busy. Even after her promising start in the Saami-directed Mirugam, Sona also did not make it big in Kollywood.
The filthy lucre offered and the publicity mileage derived from such shows are the reason they are popular. TV channels are also happy to copy an idea which has succeeded and was viewed by phenomenal numbers.
Swayamvar/ Swayamvaram was popular in bygone eras when a princess chose her husband from a number of eligible applicants. Thanks to Rakhi and others of her ilk, the practice has risen again, though only on TV channels.
