Shaam started his career with Jeeva's Ullam Keatkume and then moved on to work wih big league heroines including Jyotika, Simran, Asin and Trisha. In the next phase, he performed in a variety of multi-starrers too. Iyarkai with director S.P. Jananathan was one of his biggest blockbusters. Soon, his graph began to droop; some of his films received lukewarm responses at the box-office.
