NBW against Sridevi, Boney Kapoor

A court has issued non-bailable warrant against producer Boney Kapoor, his wife actress Sridevi and four others after they failed to appear before the court on August 18 in connection to an alleged copyright violation.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate B.D. Bharti also directed them to be present before the court on November 22. The petitioner Birbal Singh Rana, a local writer, earlier alleged that Kapoors' BSK Network and Entertainment had stolen his script for their movie Wanted.

In his petition, the writer alleged that in 2004, he had submitted his copyright script to the company, but it was rejected. The petitioner claimed that the Salman Khan-starrer, released in 2009, is based on his script.

Interestingly, Wanted was a remake of Telugu blockbuster Pokiri, directed by Puri Jagannath, and Boney Kapoor bought the remake rights for a record price from the original director. The film was remade in Tamil in 2007 as Pokkiri.
