Malayalam director Lenin Rajendran's romantic drama Makaramanju, starring well-known cinematographer Santosh Sivan and Karthika in the lead, will be dubbed in Telugu as Ravi Varma.
Sobha Rani has bought the rights and the film is based on the life of legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma. It was screened in several international and national film festivals. Sobha Rani said that Madhu Ambat's cinematography is one of the highlights of the film. Ramesh Narayana composed the music.
