Madharasapattinam gets U certificate

Arya's Madharasapattinam (also spelt as Madrasapattinam, Madhrasapattinam) bagged a clean U certificate from the Censor Board on Friday. The film is therevolutionary love story of a Madrasi boy and a British girl set in the pre-Independence era. Vijay, who directed Kireedam (Ajith) and Poi Solla Porom, has wielded the megaphone for this beautiful love story. Nirav Shah is the cinematographer. The film is produced by Kalpathi Agoram.

“The film is set in the Madras of the 40s and takes place in Washermanpet. It’s a story of a dhobi who also happens to be a wrestling champ. It has brilliantly portrayed how Chennai was when it was Madharasapattinam. I loved the way Vijay narrated the story. Clichéd as it may sound, no one has ever attempted a movie like this. It’s been a long time since an authentic period film was made. Vijay has also roped in foreign actors to give the British feel, including Amy Jackson, a Miss World Teen, to play my love interest,” the film's hero Arya revealed.
