From the brazen Maya in Billa (Telugu), to the thundering Arundhathi (Telugu) to the demure lass in Singam (Tamil) to the sizzling lawyer in Deiva Thiirumagal (Tamil) Anushka’s done it all! The pretty lass celebrates her birthday today along with the legendary Kamal Haasan.
Be it a bikini or traditional wear, Anushka always sizzles. With her performance in Arundhati (where she practically carried the entire film on her shoulders), this talented actress proved she is not just a pretty face. In Billa, she proved she could look glam and yet mean business. After the success of Arundhati in Tamil (dubbed version), Kollywood has witnessed a meteoric rise in demand for Anushka Shetty’s flicks in Tamil. But she’s also so much more than just a bimbo. In acting and attitude, Anushka is reigning superior in Tamil and Telugu Cinema. She’s starring with all the biggies and is quite the lady in-demand now. She brings her star value to any movie she stars in and that’s why everyone wants a piece of her!
Anushka Shetty was born on November 7, 1981 in a Tulu speaking family in Mangalore. She was also a Yoga Instructor, trained under yoga guru Bharat Thakur. Anushka made her acting debut in Puri Jagannath's 2005 Telugu film Super alongside Nagarjuna following that she debuted in the Tamil with Sundar C's Rendu, sharing screen space with R. Madhavan. Her performance in Arundhati (2009), a heroine-centric film, fetched her a Filmfare award for the Best actress in Telugu.
Anushka is currently busy with Damarukam and Rampachodavaram in Telugu, an untitled project with Karthi, Selva's Irandam Ulagam with Arya and Thaandavam in Tamil.
