Free screening for Gulabi Talkies

Girish Kasaravalli has found a new way to release his National Award winning Gulabi Talkies to a wider audience. The film will be screened in the coastal villages of Karnataka with the help of NGOs. Apparently, the film is based on happening in a village near the coast. The DVDs and prints of the film will be distributed to NGOs who in turn will arrange free screening.

The film tells the story of Gulabi who faces harsh treatment from�villagers because she is a Muslim. One day, she brings�a television set�home.�First, the neighborhood children arrive to watch the television; they are slowly followed by the elders, thus helping Gulabi to get accepted in the society.
