The Media and Entertainment Business Conclave, by FICCI, is back this year! Yes, it is all set to happen on 16th and 17th October. This year's Conclave's focus will be on Celebrating 100 years of Cinema! The event will kick-off with the Welcome Address by Dr. Kamal Haasan, the Chairman of MEBC, followed by the release of the FICCI-Deloitte Knowledge Report. The Keynote Address is by Barrie Osborne, an Oscar-winning Hollywood Director and Producer. The Inaugural Address is by Shri. Uday K Varma, Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. This is to be followed by a session on MEBC Broadcast Industry Knowledge Series: Opportunities in the digitized era, where eminent personalities in the broadcasting field will share their views. This will be followed by Redefining Digital Production, a session on the digitisation of cinema, by Nicolas Aithardi, an Oscar-nominated VFX Supervisor, who has worked on famous movies like X-Men, and Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. Following this will be Barrie Osborne's session, A masterclass on “A 360 degree approach to producing a global film.” Then, there will be a Visual Effects Demonstration: Making of Enthiran. The other sessions will be Regulatory landscape and the Media Industry, 100 years of Sound in Indian Cinema, Sports and Entertainment – Cashing in on the Second Screens, 100 years of Indian Cinema– Awaiting the Next Century : Keynote Address by Shri Uday K Varma, Secretary, Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India, followed by the MEBC Awards Function to felicitate the Great Maestros of Indian Cinema.
The events lined up for 17th are Director’s Cut: Film-making and Managing in the Digital Era, The Long-tail of Movies and the Role of TPMs, VFX demonstration on the Making of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows– by Nicolas Aithadi, VFX Supervisor, Moving Picture Company, a debate on Credibility of our News Media – Is Journalism at Stake?, followed by Current Successful Formats for Regional TV – Game Shows over Lifestyle?, then a session on 3D Film-making with RED Digital Camera, The Evolution of Women in Film, and will conclude with an Exclusive Roundtable on Film Finance.
This is not all, for there will be special MEBC Workshops & Masterclasses, with special focus on VFX and Screenwriting! The highlight of this conclave will be a two day in depth Screenwriting workshop by experts from the Industry like Dr. Kamal Haasan, Sri Singeetam Rao, Anurag Kashyap, Sudish Kamath, Atul Tiwari Rohan Sippy , Hariharan from LV Prasad Academy. The workshop will focus on efficient translation and transcription of word into ideas and creative images.
