A new Sheela!

To Malayalee audiences, the name Sheela immediately brings memories of Mollywood's evergreen heroine who holds, along with Prem Nazir, the Guinness book record for acting together in 107 films. This veteran actress has acted in more than 410 films so far, including internationally acclaimed Chemmeen (1965), Kallichellamma (1969), and Vazhve Mayam (1985). Sheela took a break from films after the birth of her son and returned to the silver screen in 2003, playing a main role in Manassinakkare directed by Sathyan Anthikkadu.

Now, let's talk about a new Sheela, a pretty young actress who made her debut as heroine with the Telugu film Seethakoka Chiluka and later with Ilavattam in Tamil. She acted in a couple of films in Tamil. Obviously, she did not want to be confused with the veteran actress Sheela in Mollywood. Named Maya in Mollywood, she is debuting in Malayalam with the upcoming Mammootty starrer Maya Bazaar.

The shooting for Maya Bazaar, directed by Thomas Sebastian, is going on in full swing at Pollachi. The film will start its post-production work in the first week of September. The film is scheduled to release for Ramzan on October 1 or 2. She will also act in another untitled Malayalam film featuring Narain.

In spite of any big hit, Sheela alias Maya is continuously getting plum offers from big banners in Telugu. Following her role with Allu Arjun in Parugu, she now pairs up with another young hero, Ram, in Maska is directed by B. Gopal and produced by M.S. Raju. Sheela is the second heroine in this mass entertainer having Hansika as the lead heroine. Maska is currently shooting in Hyderabad and planned for released during Dussera/ Deepavali holidays.
