It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5516 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 541,993! Of these, 996 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 155,639! Kancheepuram has recorded 156 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 20,477, while 1,119 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 32,580 total cases of which 2,456 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 30,140 cases with 1,697 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 568 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 291 new cases and Chengalpattu has recorded 283 new cases!
There have been 60 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8,811. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 155,639 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,703 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 9,706! There have been 5,206 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 483,479. There have been 86,073 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 6,474,656 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
