It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5488 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 530,908! Of these, 989 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 153,616! Kancheepuram has recorded 151 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 20,205, while 1,215 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 31,972 total cases of which 2,189 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 29,664 cases with 1,639 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 543 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 288 new cases and Chengalpattu has recorded 265 new cases!
There have been 67 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8685. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 153,616 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,506 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 9,946! There have been 5,525 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 475,717. There have been 85,543 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 6,303,466 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
