It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5344 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 547,337! Of these, 982 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 156,625! Kancheepuram has recorded 117 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 20,594, while 1,061 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 32,799 total cases of which 2,424 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 30,352 cases with 1,720 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 648 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 295 new cases and Chengalpattu has recorded 219 new cases!
There have been 60 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8,871. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 156,625 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,495 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 9,871! There have been 5,492 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 491,971. There have been 80,672 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 6,555,328 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
