July 02 - TN COVID Update: 4343 New Cases | 57 New Deaths | Total - 98,392 Cases & 1321 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official number of the COVID-19 cases are released and in the month of July Tamil Nadu has witnessed the first ever day so far of registering over 4000 cases in a single day! The official numbers of COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus cases in Tamil Nadu are out and we have it for you. The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 4343 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 98,392! Of these, 2027 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 62,598! Madurai has recorded 273 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 3133, while 2203 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 5807 total cases of which 2696 are currently active and Tiruvallur has recorded a total of 4167 cases with 1440 of them being currently active.
There have been 57 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 1321. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 62,598 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 41,047 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 22,686! The number of recoveries has returned very good numbers today and is the most for a 24-hour period ever! There have been 3095 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 56,021. There have been 33,488 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 1,235,692 tests, which is the maximum for any state in the country!
