After the release of Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar, AIADMK Minister Kadambur Raju and CV Shanmugam came out against the movie and demanded to remove a scene from the movie. The TN Ministers asked to remove a scene where people burn household items that were given of zero cost to people by the government as the scene is made in a way of mocking the government. Minister CV Shanmugan also had warned that they might file a case against the actor and the production house after a discussion.

Following the comments from the political leaders, AIADMK cadres started protesting outside theaters where Sarkar movie screens and demanded to cancel the show until the controversial scenes are removed. As the protest started to get bigger, the team of Sarkar seems to have taken a major decision. One of the prominent distributors in the state, Tirupur Subramanian informed media that the Sarkar team has agreed to remove the controversial scenes as demanded by AIADMK.

An official announcement is yet to be made on this regard.
