Raavan audio launch: A starry affair!

The audio launch of Mani Ratnam's much awaited Raavan (titled as Raavanan in Tamil and Villan in Telugu)was a grand affair in Mumbai on April 24. Lead actress Aishwarya Rai compered the show while her husband and co-star Abhishek Bachchan and music composer A.R. Rahman, performed live at the event. The former Miss World was draped in a beautiful white designer sari with red embroidery.

Talking about her role, she said: "This was an extremely challenging role for me. To shoot it in Hindi and Tamil at the same time was quite a task. But the experience was so wonderful that if Mani sir asks me, I am ready to do it all over again."

Aishwarya Rai plays the role of Ragini, a classical dance teacher in the film. "Ragini is a strong woman and very relatable to the modern Indian woman. She speaks her mind.We used to trek every morning to be on the sets. The role remained a mystery because I was playing the leading lady and there I was with no make up, no fancy clothes and all drenched in rain with mud all over. But that's what Mani sir expects from us to keep it all as real as it can get," she added.

Veteran lyricist Gulzar said "I feel saying Mani is incomplete. It doesn’t sound complete to me at all. So I call him Mani sir. Everybody from the cast and crew call him that so even I have started calling him so. It is wonderful working with this magician called Mani Ratnam. I have always enjoyed working with him and I hope to continue working with him."

Later, Oscar winning musician Rahman performed live at the event. Abhishek gave a stunning dance performance for the song 'Thok De Khilli', unleashing one of the numerous shades of Beera (his character in the film). But possibly the biggest star attraction was South Indian star Vikram (dressed in a beautiful white suit), who is all excited about his maiden Bollywood flick Raavan.

The audio of the Telugu and Tamil versions are expected to be launched soon. Sony Music has bagged the Tamil-Telugu audio rights of the film.
