Globus One Studios Productions, which produced the film Raman Thediya Seethai, will be producing a mega budget film titled Charulatha which will star Priyamani in the lead role. The movie, will be directed by Ponkumaran, who debuts in Tamil with Charulatha. The director has worked as an assistant director in films like Dasavathaaram, Aadhavan, Sokkathangam.
Ponkumar has already worked as a director in Sandalwood. He directed the blockbuster Vishnuvardhana (2011) which starred Sudeep, Priyamani and Bhavana in the lead roles.
Priyamani plays an entirely different role in the movie. Malayalam blockbuster Notebook fame Skanda plays the male lead. The film also stars Seetha, Saranya Ponvannan, Saisasi in prominent roles.
Charulatha is the remake of the Thai blockbuster Alone (2007) that starred Marsha Wattanapanich in the lead role. The movie will also be released in Telugu and Kannada languages. Allu Aravind produces the Telugu version under the Geetha Arts banner and Dwarakish produces the Kannada version. Ramesh Krishnamoorthy produces the Tamil version.
Sundar C. Babu will score the music, while Donmax will take care of the editing. M. V. Panneerselvam is the cinematographer.
