Playing National Anthem was made mandatory and all the people were asked to stand up while the anthem was played. Later, a leverage was given to physically challenged and sick people from this rule.

Since the Central Government urged the Supreme Court to look into this law, a reply has been now stated by SC. A gist of the statement is that people come to watch movies for entertainment and some people come in shorts, so Cinema hall cannot be treated as a place to prove patriotism.

Supreme court advises Centre to modify on where to play National Anthem. So, from this recent update it is understood that playing National anthem is not mandatory in Cinema Hall.
