Shockingly the Central Board of Direct Taxes authorities has frozen the bank accounts of Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu for not paying GST related to brand endorsements during the year 2007-2008. Reports state that the GST department of the Board has attached two bank accounts of Mahesh Babu for an amount of Rs 73.5 lakh in connection with these tax dues which were to be paid by the actor.

The above mentioned two accounts held by the actor in nationalized banks have been seized by authorities of the tax department on Thursday in Hyderabad. The actor’s financial dealings and endorsements are handled by Mahesh's wife Namrata Shirodkar who is said to be in contact with the authorities of the tax department.

This is the first time ever that Mahesh’s name has cropped up in the matter of tax irregularities. On the Work front, Mahesh was last seen in Bharat Ane Nenu which was directed by Siva Kortala. The actor is currently shooting for his upcoming film Maharshi which is being directed by Vamshi Paidipally
