David Beckham's parents didn't want him to marry Victoria at first - in case she wrecked his football career. The soccer star's dad, Ted, has confessed he and wife Sandra had qualms about their son tying the knot with the then-Spice Girl. He revealed: "I can't pretend we were totally thrilled he was going out with a pop star. We weren't worried about Victoria, it was more the sort of lifestyle someone in her world has to lead. "Going out to nightclubs, staying out late - it's the opposite to what a footballer's life should be." However, Ted and Sandra's attempts to talk sense to their son backfired when David insisted he wanted Victoria as his wife. In his new book, 'David Beckham: My Son', Ted recalled: "David's as stubborn as I am, and once he's made his mind up, that's it." David and Victoria - who have three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz – married in a lavish ceremony in July 1999. But their married life has not always run smoothly - last year, their relationship was tested when David was accused of cheating on his wife with his former personal assistant Rebecca Loos and model Sarah Marbeck. However, the football hunk has always dismissed the allegations
