Vyapuri: I want to be a villain
While Vyapuri’s counterparts like Vivek, Vadivelu, and Karunas have acted as heroes, Vyapuri is obsessed with the idea of acting as a villain on screen. When asked how he would be accepted as a villain after being a comedian for such a long period, he said it is a matter of presentation. He recalled Nagesh’s negative role in Apoorva Sagotharargal.
Vyapuri has promised to do his best if given a chance. He added that he is very happy as his long-cherished dream of doing a character role has been fulfilled in Villu, the Vijay starrer. He said that this character has good scope for humour too and he is pinning his hopes on it to reach the next level in cinema.
Vyapuri also stated that comedians and comedy tracks are indispensable to cinema. A good comedy track serves as a refreshment and helps the audience focus better on the main subject; the track, he opines.
Vyapuri thanked Kamal Haasan, who gave him an opportunity to work in Dasavathaaram. The slapstick king has done 10 films with Kamal including Dasavathaaram and will act with him again in Marmayogi. He plays a music director in Kuselan and thinks that this is the best period of his career. He is also confident that he will get to perform a memorable performance soon.
