The excitement surrounding Etharkkum Thunindhavan is huge considering Suriya will be seen in a rural film once again after a long time and fans are hoping that Pandiraj will hit the bullseye in tandem with his last few ventures that were set around a similar backdrop that included narratives that kept audiences hooked to their seats. The film is also Suriya's first full-length role under Pandiraj's direction, who earlier did Pasanga 2 (2015) and Kadaikutty Singam (2018) under the actor's 2D Entertainment banner. Etharkkum Thunindhavan has Suriya paired with Doctor heroine Priyanka Arul Mohan, while veteran actors Sathyaraj, M. S. Bhaskar and Saranya Ponvannan have been cast in pivotal roles and are joined by Ilavarasu, Subbu Panchu, Dhivya Dhuraisamy, Master and Bigg Boss Tamil 5 fame Ciby Chandran and Vada Chennai star Saran Shakthi.
