Vijayashanti arrested, released on bail
Yesteryears action heroine-turned politician MP Vijayashanti was arrested during her protest in front of the district Superintendent of Police office, Sangareddy on Sunday against the arrests of Telangana leaders.
Accompanied by scores of supporters, Vijayashanti came to the SP's office and said that she wanted to meet the SP. When the officials informed her that the SP was not available, she sat there on protest, demanding the release of arrested Telangana leaders.
Repeated appeals by police that Police Act 30 was in force and there was no permission to stage dharna did not yield any result. With this, police arrested her and shifted her to the police station. Later, she was released on bail. She stated that she would extend support to anyone who would take up the Telangana cause.
The trouble began after Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhara Rao, known popularly as KCR, who had announced his intention to begin an indefinite fast, was arrested on his way to the Siddipet where he was to begin the hunger strike.
