This pandemic situation has made many producers and directors to release their films directly on OTT platforms, skipping the theatrical release because one is not sure when the theatres would reopen. The direct OTT release has paved a new way of business for the producers and we are witnessing a lot of notable biggies getting ready to release directly on streaming platforms. Jyotika’s Ponmagal Vandhal, Amitabh Bachchan - Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Gulabo Sitabo, Keerthy Suresh’s Penguin are some of the films that have already been released. Recently, it was announced that Akshay Kumar’s mega biggie, Laxmmi Bomb, the Hindi remake of Kanchana, will have a direct OTT release, along with 6 other notable Hindi biggies.

Following that, it has now come to everyone’s notice that the long delayed Hindi film, Yaara will make its way towards a direct OTT release. Yaara stars Thuppakki villain Vidyut Jammwal, Amit Sadh and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles and it is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. The film has been in the production for quite a long time and this news comes as a sigh of relief for the fans. Yaara will stream on Zee 5 digital streaming platform and it will release on July 25. The official announcement was made by Zee 5 and there are a lot more interesting releases to look out for. Notably, this happens to be Shruti Haasan’s first film to release directly on OTT, while for Vidyut Jammwal this will be the second film. Reportedly, Yaara deals with the story of two friends who get trapped into the world of crime. The stylish actor’s Khuda Haafiz is already scheduled to have a direct OTT release on Disney + Hotstar streaming platform.

Talking about Zee 5, three notable Tamil biggies have also been lined up for a direct OTT release and the list includes Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s Danny, Yogi Babu’s Cocktail, and Vaibhav’s Lockup. Danny and Cocktail are reportedly scheduled to release on July 10, while the release date of Lockup is yet to be announced.

Other notable biggies which are going to release directly on OTT include Sushant Singh Rajput’s Dil Bechara, Jayasurya - Aditi Rao Hydari’s Sufiyum Sujatayum, Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi, Janhvi Kapoor’s Gunjan Saxena, Alia Bhatt’s Sadak 2, Abhishek Bachchan’s The Big Bull, Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj: The Pride of India, and more.
