Vidhu marries Deepthi

Young playback singer Vidhu Prathap marriage to classical dancer and actress Deepthi on 20th August at Subramanian Hall was attended by many celebrities of the field. Vidhu has arranged a reception at Thrissur Lulu centre on 23rd August.

The marriage ceremony was held in the midst of the nationwide general strike called by the Left-backed central trade unions, which affected the state almost completely. The strike indeed offered a challenge to those who attended the function. The state ministers arrived at the venue by walking long distances; many like maestro Yesudas has to order special vehicles to attend.

Hailing from Kaithamukku, Trivandrum, Vidhu made his debut with Paadamudra in which he sang while he was studying in class IV. He won the "Voice of the Year" award in a music competition conducted by Asianet TV at age 17. He got his real break with 'Pon Vasantham' in Devadasi (1999) and 'Shukriya' in Niram (1999). In 2002, he was introduced to Tamil by Ilayaraja through ‘Solla Marantha Kathai’.

Some of his recent hit songs include 'Changathi' (Notebook), 'Kasavinte' (July), 'Sundariye' (Pandayakozhi), 'Hello hello' (Hello), 'Mazhamani Mukile' (Kangaroo), 'Inale Mutathu' (SMS) and 'Kolusal Konjum' (Malabar Wedding). He has bagged the Kerala State Best Male Playback Singer Award in 2001 for 'Kalame Kaikolluka nee' in Sayahnam.
