It is a special day for one of the important identities of Chennai as Vettri Theatres celebrate its 46th year since its opening. Located in Chromepet, Vettri Theatres is one of the oldest release theatres around Chennai. Inaugurated in 1973 by former TN Chief Minister Dr.Karunanidhi, screen 'Vettri' is the biggest of all in Chengalpet district with 930 seat capacity. The 2nd screen(mini) 'Rakesh' was launched in 1990 by Captain Vijaykanth which has a 433 seat capacity. The theater features ergonomic cushion seats, three-way stage speakers and eye-catching interiors to add more comfort.

The screens are being updated from time to time to keep the phase and standard with the big multiplexes and have been doing a great job giving the best to the audience. Vettri became the first cinema hall in India to be equipped with Christie’s next-generation CP4325-RGB RealLaser cinema projector.

On the occasion of the magical moment, Rakesh Gowthaman, the Managing Director of Vettri Theatres thankes the audience for their everlasting love.

He tweeted, "#46YearsofVettri Thanks for your ever lasting love... With your support we grow #Vettri #RGBLaserInVettri"

Rakesh Gowthaman also revealed that the Indian legend K Balachander’s Arangetram was the first official release in Vettri back in 1973 starring Prameela, Sivakumar, and Kamal Haasan.  He further added that they would have approximately released around 2000 films in Vettri complex during the years 1973 to 2018.

With hearty love, we from Galatta wish Vettri Theater to carry on its legacy in the following decades to come as well!
