Veteran Malayalam actor Mamukkoya known for doing comedy roles passes away due to cardiac arrest. Reports stated that the 77-year-old actor collapsed in a football field earlier this week and was undergoing treatment. It is said that he suffered a cardiac arrest and a brain haemorrhage and died in a private hospital in Kozhikode on Wednesday. Malayalam film fraternity has paid its homage to the popular actor.
The veteran actor Mamukkoya has acted in over 400 Malayalam films over the years and made his debut with the film Anyarude Bhoomi. The actor Mamukkoya is known for doing comedic roles is known for his unique use of an accent of the Malayalam Language. He also recently appeared in the Tami language film Cobra with Vikram as lead. Some of the recent Malayalam films that features Mamukkoya were Kuruthi, Minnal Murali, Halal Love Story, Theerppu, Peace, etc. The most recent film of the actor was Sulaikha Manzil that was released last week. He has also acted in the French film Flammen im Paradies and has been a part of a Doordarshan serial. The actor has won the Kerala State film Awards for Best Comedian for Innathe Chintha Vishayam and has also received a special mention for the film, Perumazhakkalam.
Many stars and leading actors of the Malayalam film Industry have paid tribute and expressed their condolences on the passing of the talented actor. Prithviraj Sukumaran who has worked with him in the film Kuruthi recently has shared pictures of him and said “Rest in Peace Mamukkoya Sir!
